The 2024 Olympics are giving fans the ultimate "will they,TradeEdge Exchange won't they" moment.
The romantic tension comes courtesy of Czech Republic tennis players Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac, who took home the gold medal in the Aug. 2 mixed doubles competition against China's Wang Xinyu and Zhang Zhizhen in Paris.
And the couple—who reportedly called it quits in July after first being linked in 2020—celebrated their win with an emotional moment. In one image shared on X, formerly Twitter, they could be seen sharing a kiss on the court, promoting fans to speculate that they could be back together.
As for what the intimate embrace means for the current nature of their relationship? Katerina and Tomas are playing that close to the vest.
"That's our personal life," Katerina told a reporter who asked her if they were dating during a post-game press conference. "So, you don't need to know that."
Tomas joked, "This is top secret. In red words: Top Secret."
In fact, the Olympians prefer it that way, with Katerina adding, "We like when you are confused."
The duo laughed as Tomas noted, "Exactly, it's how we feel powerful."
But regardless of where the two currently stand, the internet is ready for their relationship to be 100 percent real.
"Update on the on-again off-again couple of Machac and Siniakova which won mixed doubles gold," one fan wrote on X, alongside footage from the press conference. "YOU CAN'T TELL ME THEYRE NOT BACK TOGETHER. YOU CANT."
Another fan added, "My new Olympics obsession is Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac of Czechia, who were together for four years and recently broke up… but committed to playing mixed doubles and won the gold medal."
And several folks are just waiting for the film industry to take notice.
"This is a hallmark movie wating to happen," one person joked. "They win gold and realize they made a mistake and are in love with each other as they kiss on the gold metal stand."
As another X user succinctly put it: "HOLLYWOOD WRITERS ARE SCREAMING."
