Whoopi Golberg is playing defense for Taylor Swift.
The View's moderator called out Kansas City Chiefs fans who suggested the "Blank Space" singer is negatively impacting boyfriend Travis Kelce's performance on the field and contributing to his slow start to the NFL season.
"They apparently forgot that they won the Super Bowl last year with him and they were just as tight then as they are now," Whoopi said on the Sept. 24 episode of the daytime talk show. "What is going on?"
As co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out, the Chiefs were still undefeated in the 2024-2025 season, going 3-0 in the team's first three games.
"I don't know what's changed," Sunny exclaimed, referencing that Taylor "wasn't even at" the Chiefs' most recent game against the Atlanta Falcons Sept. 22. "Is she supposed to play the game, too?"
Alyssa went on to note that, not only are there many different ways to measure success in football, so a single person isn't responsible for a team's results.
"As I understand it, football is a team sport," she said. "Just because he's not making touchdowns doesn't mean he's not contributing to the success of the team. They're currently undefeated this season."
"She’s very powerful, but... she can't magically affect his game,” Alyssa continued, pointing out Travis' support of Taylor's Eras Tour and Taylor's support of his team's games. “The thing I do love about this relationship and why I root for it, [is] they support each other. One of the best signs of love is showing up for the other person."
She added, "Once again, just the classic blaming a woman for a man."
Whoopi pointed out that Travis has been busy with other projects off the field, like acting in Ryan Murphy's new show, Grotesquerie, and filming commercials.
Meanwhile, Sara Haines called out the hypocrisy of people jumping from praising Taylor to criticizing her whenever it's convenient to do so.
"She brought tons of viewership and money to the sport," she said. "She did all these things and it's like, 'Let's get really excited about that,' and then when they don't see what they want, it's like, 'Let's rip her down!'"
The View co-hosts aren't the only people sticking up for Taylor and Travis, either. His brother, Jason Kelce, shared some encouraging words for Travis in response to the backlash.
"It’s gonna go your way, especially if you freaking keep being the guy you’ve always been," the former Philadelphia Eagles star told him on the Sept. 25 episode of their podcast, New Heights. "There ain’t nobody that I’ve ever played sports with and nobody that anybody’s ever been on a team with that’s loved being out there with Trav more. It’s frustrating for me to have to watch and listen to, but I can’t wait for it to turn."
Keep reading for evidence of Taylor supporting Travis at his games.
While supporting Travis Kelce as the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 24, her first-ever NFL game at Arrowhead Stadium, Taylor Swift sported DÔEN's white Lois Tank and Ksubi's distressed denim shorts, which she paired with a Chiefs windbreaker and matching New Balance sneakers.
For the Chiefs' Oct. 1 game against the New York Jets, held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Taylor wore Area's denim shorts, which quickly sold out. The singer completed the look with Christian Louboutin boots and Gant's relaxed leather shirt.
And Taylor couldn't forget her signature red lip for the star-studded game.
For the Chiefs' Oct. 12 game, where she spent time with Travis' dad Ed Kelce, Taylor wore a Chiefs jacket from WEAR, a line by Erin Andrews (who Travis has credited for connecting him with Taylor).
Taylor, who also spent time with quarterback Patrick Mahomes' wife Brittany Mahomes at the game, sported a Balenciaga corset top underneath the Chiefs jacket.
Taylor had an extra special accessory on her wrist for the Chiefs' Oct. 22 game: An Erimish bracelet with Travis' jersey number on it.
...we can't calm down.
Taylor sported a long red fleece jacket over a black high neck top, paired with her signature red lip.
The singer was all smiles as she watched the game with Brittany Mahomes.
For her ninth Chiefs game, Taylor sported a cream varsity jacket bearing the team's logo and a patch that read "Tay-Tay."
During a freezing Kansas City Chiefs-Miami Dolphins Game in Kansas City, Mo., Taylor cheers on her boyfriend and his team while wearing a custom-made puffer coat made to look like a Kelce Chiefs jersey, designed by Kristin Juszczyk, wife of San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk.
